Gentrification Video Done

After 10 weeks of hard work me and Kanesha finally finished the production of poem and the music video. The video production is aiming to raise the awareness of gentrification in Chicago area. Kanesha did a fantastic job forming the basic concept into the video and making it a serious issue. And I hope it did help to make people aware of the fact that gentrification is destroying the lives of people in the lower social class. The stylish look of the video is only tyring to grasp the attention of the audience, what we are trying to convey is what we really want to show the audience. I will put the video in this post once we upload it online.

oops, here's the video.

  1. You hit the nail on the head! This video was intended to raise awareness, and what better way to do so than with all the stylish effects you added to the video. Again, it was really great working with you this term. Hopefully we can collaborate in the future. Thanks much

  2. I was completely impressed by the effort you both put into this project (I know I have said this enough times already!!). But seriously, during the screening today, I was simply amazed by the visual effects, the sound, the editing, and all the other techniques used to create this video. I think you both worked really well as a collaboration, and should seriously consider doing more together in the upcoming future!

  3. I found the combination of visual effects, sound, and effective editing quite impressive, and it really does come across as a well-produced music video. The use of video techniques added to the overall impression, rather than taking away from it, which could happen if anything were overdone. It was very aptly assembled though, and I don't think anything needed to be changed.

  4. Turned out pretty well! The greenscreen shots looked very nice- you did a good job with lighting. Also the song itself sounded great.

  5. Personally, i think you guys did a very great job given the time frame and the work involved in producing a music vidoe from scratch. The picture quality is great the artist are awesome. I think you guys can perform this on college campuses and in the communities as an educational outreach project since the message you are getting across is affecting people's lives. Congratulations!!!

  6. Your collaboration was extensive--you had to learn new techniques and work with many people to pull this stylized music video off. There is a sense of community and mutual support to convey something big. Lev Manovich and other new media commentators have written that the music video genre has tremendous potential to communicate and that artists should use it exactly as you did--to convey messages. Though excessive stylization can detract from a political message, your use of spoken word/poetry combined to drive your message home. Can you fix Fendi (not Findi)--little stuff like that is distracting. Otherwise, we hope it goes viral!
